Spring Harvest Day 00

Another gloriously sunny day today.  Spent the first part of the morning packing to go away to Minehead with Richard who called around after breakfast at 10 a.m.  Having said goodbye to Sara and the kids we drove across to Minehead arriving at around 12.30 p.m. and enjoyed fish and chips at our by now familiar cafe in the main High Street.  We booked into Butlins at 2.30 p.m. and were in our chalet 15 minutes later - sharing with a church warden from Pershore in Worcestershire - so I am with two "Brummies"!  This evening, after a dinner of chili con carne and ginger and pear pudding and custard, we assembled with other stewards in the refurbished "In on the Green" for our initial briefing.  I have been appointed a Team Leader with a Christian worker for the elderly in London and a retired deputy head teacher.  Lovely people.  Tonight, Richard, Robin (our chalet companion) and I went for a drink in the Sun and Moon and got to know each other better.  Finally got to bed at 11 a.m. but with the bright chalet lights shining in giving the impression of daylight throughout the night.  Still managed to get a reasonably good night's sleep.
