Saints nearly there (for promotion)

A great day today for Saints!  Tom, unfortunately couldn't join me this afternoon at St. mary's because he had to attend school in Stockbridge for a briefing about his great hike for the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Southampton managed a 2-0 win over Doncaster Rovers this afternoon courtesy of two goals from former Doncaster striker, Billy Sharp.  Billy scored the only goal against Southampton when the two sides met just before Christmas - Tom and I went up to Doncaster for that game, staying with Mum for the weekend.  So, of the three goals scored in both meetings, Billy Sharp scored them all - two for Southampton and one for Doncaster.  How ironic!  Donny were a hard side to grind down and it was a very frustrating first half.  This afternoon Reading beat Blackpool 3-1 but West Ham could only manage a 2-2 draw at Burnley. Saints now have 78 points on the boar and are five points clear of Reading and nine clear of West Ham.  Three wins from their last seen games should see them promoted, if not Champions!  What a great time to be a Southampton supporter.  Only seven games away from wiping out seven years in the wilderness.  Looking forward to the Pompey game at Easter weekend.
