Another bank holiday today which Sara and I spent almost exclusively in tidying and cleaning. I dusted the lounge and cleaned the hall and kitchen floors whilst Sara did a mountain of laundry. This afternoon we listened to the Plymouth Argyle v. Saints match on the radio which resulted in a 1-3 win for Saints and almost certain promotion now to the Championship. Norwich beat Portsmouth at Fratton Park this evening to gain promotion to the Premier League. I really do hope that Saints can follow Norwich next year. So far they have been following the fortunes of Norwich albeit one year behind. We opened the champagne and had a BBQ to celebrate. Technically we are still not up -but Huddersfield would have to win by a margin of about 15 goals and we would have to lose our last game against Walsall on Saturday as well to be denied promotion. Not a likely scenario. I also learned that Salisbury gained promotion to the Conference South by way of the play-offs so it has been a great day all round for football. Pity I had to spend so much of the bank holiday on domestic chores - but as we are now "retired" bank holidays do not have quite the same significance as in the past.
