Roast Beef Sunday

I attended the praise service at All Saints, Winterslow, this morning which was taken by Maggie and Debbie.  A really good service on the theme of "friends" and the wedding at Cana.  It was well structured and engaging but a little disappointing that the congregation was quite small.  Back home I cooked Sunday lunch - roast beef and Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and roast vegetables followed by apple strudel.  It seemed to be a huge success as not a scrap of food was left over - all the beef and vegetables were consumed and the kids really enjoyed it.  I drizzled the vegetables in olive oil and cooked some whole cloves of garlic which gave a great taste to the whole dish.  After lunch,  Tom and I watched some of the Manchester City v. Tottenham Hotspur's match which resulted in a 3-2 win for City (a penalty in the last dying seconds of injury time for City).  A great match to watch.  This evening I attended Salisbury CityChurch to listen to a talk by a 32 year old preacher and also had an opportunity to chat with Bev, Dave and Shaz from Morning Star.  Quite a long service - an hour and a half - but well attended (about 60).  I got back to Winterslow at around 8.30 p.m. and then joined Richard and James in the Lion's Head for our usual "end of weekend" drink and chat.  Another fully packed weekend gone.  Back to work tomorrow but with a football match to go to in Southampton on Monday evening - Saints v. Leicester - which we must win!
